Oomph Seminars

Ideas that excite

We could all do with more oomph in our lives.

When Vivian Partnership Ltd was created we wanted to do something a bit different, a bit more exciting. In particular bring together professionals that don’t normally talk to one another to create new ideas and ways to give sustainability some renewed energy.

Oomph Seminars is one of our creations. It’s very simple. We take a topic or issue and in two hours we give it a good shake up and pull out the really good stuff.  In the process we get excited all over again – and give it some oomph.

The next subject to receive some oomph is “social media – who needs it?”

This is our fifth Oomph Seminar and a return to the very generous fellows at HROC in Edgbaston. This one is right up their street as communications gurus. We are also being kind to all those who find the 8am starts hard and kicking off at 9am; aiming to finish at 12noon.

We will consider:

If you are not on Social Media – why should you take time to get involved?

If you are dabbling with Social Media – how can you really put it to use?

If your company and board are frightened of it how can you get them on board?

We believe it is the most exciting communication development in a generation and will serve transparency, truthful reporting and community engagement really well – but only if the rules are understood and time is taken to invest in the billions of conversations going on out there.

If you are involved in sustainability you should be involved and understand social media. This seminar will give you ideas and oomph to make your activity as effective as possible.

The feedback from our last Oomph on ISO14001 was fantastic:

““It was really useful to hear from how other sectors view ISO 14001 and that we share some of the same critiques of the current system. ISO 14001 next generation will hopefully help to address these. I like the Oomph format and will definitely come to other future sessions”

and

“Thanks again for some morning inspiration yesterday Oomphers! Very much appreciated!”

We have an outline timetable for future seminars:

July 2012 – “Global Reporting Initiative – hints, tips and guidance – how to get to A+ in your sustainability report”

September 2012 – “Embedding strategy – how the centre can successfully implement out to the regions”

November 2012 – “Innovation Showcase – six ideas that work from our dedicated Oomphers”

If you would like to come to our next seminar on Social Media please register here:

Here are the summaries from Oomph I, “How can we make our sustainability initiatives more effective?”

and Oomph II, “Has green marketing passed its sell-by date?”

and Oomph III, “Hitting the mainstream”

and now Oomph IV “ISO 14001 – more than just a  bunch of numbers”

What people said after our Oomph Seminars

Testimonials

It is fantastic to leave a seminar feeling inspired and full of practical ideas. Thursday’s oomph seminar did exactly that, Ben and Dan are naturals at putting an audience at ease which meant real participation from the group. As environmental professionals often form a one person team, it is fantastic to share a room with like minded individuals from local businesses who have faced and tackled similar challenges and can offer insight and advice. Eagerly anticipating the next installment of Oomph!

Nicola Duffy, Environmental Co-ordinator at Highcross, Leicester

Thank you both for inviting us to today’s Oomph seminar. From our point of view, we found the stimulus material and subsequent debate insightful from a sustainability perspective, but also in a wider context applicable to the successful deployment of general business initiatives.

Really enjoyed this morning. I have attended very few seminars over the past two years simple because they are all too similar, often the the same speakers and follow the same theme. Today was most importantly enjoyable, interesting and got the brain cells working. I like small groups with variety of people and backgrounds.
